Privacy Policy

Ludwig has no accounts and no sign-up. Your repertoire, practice sessions, notes and recordings stay on your device unless you turn on cloud backup, in which case they are copied to your own cloud storage and we never receive them. There is no advertising, no usage analytics and no tracking.

Two things do leave your device, and neither contains any of your practice data: your purchase, if you buy Premium, and an anonymous technical report if the app crashes. Both are described below.

All information you enter in Ludwig is stored locally on your device, or backed up to your own cloud storage if you enable that. It is never uploaded to us or to anyone else, unless you choose to send session notes to a teacher or another recipient. This includes:

• ·Your repertoire, pieces, and their status and history
• ·Practice sessions, timings, goals, streaks, and statistics
• ·Notes and session reflections you write
• ·Audio recordings you choose to make during practice
• ·Your settings, such as instruments, reminders, and preferences

None of this is sent to us. We operate no servers that receive it and we cannot see any of it. The only information that ever leaves your device is described under “Purchases” and “Crash reports” below, and none of it includes your practice data.

Ludwig requests only the permissions it needs to function, and uses them solely on your device:

• ·Microphone. Used only when you record a practice take. Recordings are saved locally and are never uploaded or shared by the app.
• ·Notifications. Used only to show the local practice reminders you enable. These are generated on your device; no reminder data leaves it.
• ·Camera. Used if you choose to scan your sheet music into the app.

Ludwig does not request access to your location, contacts, photos, or any account.

If you turn on backup, Ludwig writes a copy of your data to your iCloud Drive on iPhone and iPad, or on Android to a folder you pick yourself, which can be a folder in Google Drive. That destination is yours, governed by your agreement with whoever provides it. We do not select it, receive it, or have any access to it. You can turn backup off at any time.

Ludwig lets you export your data as a file and create backups, so you can keep your information safe or move it yourself. When you export or back up, the file is created on your device or in your own cloud storage and goes wherever you choose to send or save it. That action is entirely under your control, and the data still never passes through us.

Ludwig contains no usage analytics, no advertising and no advertising identifiers. We do not build a profile of you, and we do not sell, rent or share your information.

If you buy Premium, the purchase is processed by Apple or Google, and we use RevenueCat to verify and manage it. RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier generated by the app, the product purchased, the transaction date, your country, and basic device and app version information. It does not receive your name, your email address, your payment details or any of your practice data.

If you never buy Premium, nothing is sent.

If the app crashes or hits an error, it sends an anonymous technical report to Sentry so we can find and fix the problem. That report contains the error, the app version, your device model and operating system version, and an anonymous installation identifier. It does not contain your repertoire, sessions, notes, recordings, sheet music or any other content you have entered.

Ludwig includes a catalogue of composers and works to help you add repertoire. This reference information is bundled with the app; browsing it does not send any of your data anywhere. Composer data is provided by Open Opus (https://openopus.org/).

Because your data is stored only on your device, or backed up to your own cloud storage, you are always in control of it. You can delete your data from within the app, and uninstalling Ludwig removes the data stored on your device. We hold no copy to delete, because we never received one.

Crash reports and purchase records are held by the providers named above under their own retention policies. Neither is linked to your identity, and neither contains your practice data.

Ludwig contains no advertising and no external content directed at children, and does not ask anyone for personal information. It is a practice tool suitable for musicians of any age.

The only data that leaves the device is described under “Purchases” and “Crash reports” above. Neither identifies you by name, and neither includes anything you have entered into the app.

Because we hold no personal information about you, there is generally nothing for us to give you access to, correct, or delete. If you believe we hold information about you, or you have a question or a complaint about how Ludwig handles your privacy, contact us at the address below and we will respond within a reasonable time.

If you are in Australia and are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

If this policy changes, for example if a future version of the app introduces a new feature, we will update this page and revise the date above. If a change ever involves collecting data, we will make that clear before it takes effect.
